Rules announced for the 2026-2027 season.
Visa on arrival for the Algerian Sahara
For a tourist trip to the south, Algeria issues the visa on arrival, provided you travel with a licensed agency. Here is how it works.
Who it applies to
- Foreign tourists travelling on a tour organised by a licensed agency.
- For a stay in one of the 24 southern wilayas: Djanet, Tamanrasset, Illizi, Timimoun, Adrar, Béni Abbès, Ghardaïa, Biskra, El Oued, Béchar…
- For a stay of up to 30 days.
The steps
- 1
You book a tour with a licensed agency and send it a copy of your passport.
- 2
The agency registers your trip on the government platform and obtains an authorisation with a QR code.
- 3
You travel with this authorisation. At the airport you pay the visa fee and the visa is placed in your passport.
- 4
The agency welcomes you on arrival and stays with you throughout the tour.
What this scheme does not cover
- Independent travellers without an agency.
- Family visits and business trips: a standard visa from the consulate is required.
Algerian or from the diaspora?
With an Algerian passport you need no visa. You can book any tour on the site directly.
Conditions may change from one season to the next, and the visa fee depends on nationality. Your agency confirms the current rules before you leave.
